Mortal Kombat Creator Ed Boon Asks Fans Which Fighting Game Franchise to Revive

Some players would like to see MultiVersus make a return.

Over the past weekend, Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon sparked a discussion within the fighting game community. The developer published a new poll on a social network.

He asked players which game they would like to see revived. Four options were provided, and the votes were distributed as follows (with more than 60,000 users participating in total):

• 2XKO — 17.4%
• Killer Instinct — 49.9%
• MultiVersus — 24.6%
• RumbleVerse — 8%

The Killer Instinct franchise became the leader in vote share. The last full new installment of Killer Instinct was released in 2013 for the Xbox One console. The game later made its way to PC and Steam. The fighting game’s record peak concurrent player count on the Valve service reached 847 players, and recently it has been holding steady within 50 to 60 users.

Notably, the Injustice franchise was absent from the list presented by Ed Boon. Some players are certain that a hypothetical Injustice 3 is currently in development, but NetherRealm Studios itself has not confirmed anything yet.
