Modder Ports 2005’s Need for Speed: Most Wanted to Nintendo Switch
Players can now take part in illegal street racing on the Nintendo Switch.
Electronic Arts never re-released the classic racing game Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) for modern platforms, so various enthusiasts have taken on the task of porting it themselves. The project has recently arrived on another platform.
A developer known as StevensND has announced the release of an unofficial port of Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) for the Nintendo Switch. He emphasizes that this is not an emulator: “The PowerPC code of the default.xex file is statically recompiled into C++ using ReXGlue, then compiled for the Switch, and rendering is handled by a native Vulkan renderer running on NVK (Mesa).”
StevensND noted that the target performance for the Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) port is 30 FPS at standard Nintendo Switch console clock speeds without overclocking.

StevensND published the source code for the “nfsmw-nx” project publicly on GitHub. The provided archive does not contain copyrighted game assets, meaning players must supply their own disk image of the Xbox 360 version of Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005).
