Jessica Henwick declines to return for Daredevil: Born Again season 3

Jessica Henwick declined to reprise her role as Colleen Wing in season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again because she did not see sufficient reason to continue the character’s story.

Marvel continues bringing back characters from its Netflix series, but reaching agreements is not always successful. Krysten Ritter returns as Jessica Jones in season 2 of Born Again, and Mike Colter and Finn Jones are expected to appear as Luke Cage and Danny Rand in season 3. Colleen Wing could also have joined the former Defenders, but Jessica Henwick, who played the role in Iron Fist, The Defenders, and Luke Cage, refused to return because she saw no sufficient grounds to continue the character arc.

Jessica Henwick noted that in the finale of Iron Fist, Colleen Wing received new abilities and continued fighting crime alongside Misty Knight:

According to the actress, any new appearance must justify disrupting Colleen Wing’s happy ending and offer a full storyline.

Previously, Jessica Henwick turned down a role as another Marvel character in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings because she wanted to keep the possibility of returning as Colleen Wing open. Consequently, the actress does not close the door on the cinematic universe entirely, but she does not plan to appear in season 3 of Born Again.

The continuation is expected to premiere in Spring 2027.
