Insider Reports Killzone Remake or Remaster in Development
Guerrilla may receive assistance from the creators of Painkiller and Bulletstorm.
Players have recently turned their attention back to the Killzone shooter franchise following a report from MP1st.
Citing their sources, journalists reported that Sony likely has plans to revive Killzone, with a new project currently in the “earliest” stages of production. However, an announcement is not expected in the near future.
Sources familiar with the situation stated that Guerrilla Games is collaborating with an external studio outside of PlayStation to create a remaster or remake of Killzone. It is currently unknown which specific installment is slated for an update, though the journalists believe the original 2004 Killzone is the most suitable candidate.

According to the sources, the Killzone project is set to become Guerrilla Games’ next priority after the live-service game Horizon Hunter’s Gathering. Part of the team working on that title will return to Killzone once development on Gathering is complete.
The external partner studio may be People Can Fly. Journalists noted that PlayStation signed an agreement with the studio last year to develop a game codenamed Project Delta, which will be based on one of PlayStation’s existing franchises.
Based on MP1st’s data, a provisional Horizon 3 could release after the Killzone project, but these plans may be subject to change.
