Insider Claims NVIDIA and AMD Are Slowing Down New GPU Releases

According to recent leaks, NVIDIA and AMD might postpone the mass production of their next-generation graphics cards to 2028, leaving 2027 with almost no new GPUs.

Insider Kepler_L2 reports that NVIDIA does not plan to release the GeForce RTX 60 series in 2027. Although earlier reports suggested a possible launch as early as next year, the rollout has reportedly been pushed back to 2028.

AMD faces a similar situation, as its full lineup of graphics cards based on the RDNA 5 architecture is also slated for release only in 2028. An exception could be the AT2 GPU featuring 40 compute units, which is expected in 2027. Rumors indicate this card will allow AMD to compete more aggressively in the high-performance segment, including against the GeForce RTX 5080.

The delays may stem from the memory market situation, where rising prices and supply issues have reportedly already affected NVIDIA’s plans for the RTX 50 SUPER series. The manufacturer may scrap the lineup entirely to focus on the next generation.

If these leaks are confirmed, 2027 will prove to be an extremely quiet year for the new graphics card market, and gamers will have to wait longer for a noticeable leap in performance.
