Indie Developer Gathers 48 Million Views with Needle-in-a-Haystack Simulator
Indie developer NasNakarus is turning the classic expression “finding a needle in a haystack” into an actual video game simulation that tasks players with sifting through millions of individual pieces.
The developer posted a teaser for the project on social media in August, and the footage quickly went viral, drawing more than 48 million views in just a few days. NasNakarus confirmed in discussions with users that the project is not a joke and stated that a Steam page will open soon.
NasNakarus said his goal is to “push the boundaries for meditative, repetitive games.”
The digital haystack contains 5 million pieces hiding a single small needle. The meditative format could potentially suit both solo and cooperative play.

Unconventional simulators frequently attract substantial audiences. A recent fishing game released on PC via Steam allowed players to use firearms and explosives alongside traditional fishing rods, attracting widespread attention and selling one million copies in just a few days.
