HoYoverse Presents Its Answer to Ananta — 30 Minutes of Mystical GTA‑Style Open‑World Gameplay from Varsapura
HoYoverse shows no signs of slowing down, unveiling a bold new project developed on Unreal Engine 5.
HoYoverse released a 30-minute gameplay demonstration for Varsapura — the studio’s latest large-scale undertaking built with Unreal Engine 5. The video introduces the Shadow Emergency Alliance (SEAL), its dimly lit corridors, and a first training sequence that unfolds both in the physical world and within a shadow dimension.
The footage presents an early build of the game: the protagonist, Hollowone, takes part in a trial wielding a combat umbrella — a versatile weapon that can block and be thrown, and also suspend the heroine midair to allow gliding. The demo also highlights stealth mechanics, parrying, finishers, fluid combo chains with character swaps, and exploration segments that include driving through the city.
Varsapura melds HoYoverse’s signature anime-inspired visuals with a GTA-like open world, realistic environments, and the uncanny, supernatural thriller tone reminiscent of Control.
HoYoverse has not yet announced platforms or a release date. The presentation concluded with a call for new hires at the studio’s Shanghai and Singapore offices, signaling that the project remains in early development.
