Hi-Fi Rush Director John Johanas ironically criticized DLSS 5 after the technology distorted the game’s cartoon art style beyond recognition.

Hi-Fi Rush Director John Johanas mocked the performance of DLSS 5, which altered the game’s appearance so heavily that the character Chai began to look unnatural.

It all started with a post on X showcasing Hi-Fi Rush with DLSS 5 enabled. The game’s signature cartoon style vanished, and the main character took on a strange and artificial look.

Johanas reacted to the image with irony:

Finally, our artistic direction has been fully realized. Everything we did was a step toward achieving this brilliant result. Perfect, nothing to complain about.

Later, the developer admitted that he laughed for a long time at the ridiculous appearance of the character.

DLSS 5 has already sparked controversy. Critics consider the technology to be a simple filter that ruins the work of artists. Meanwhile, the creator of Kingdom Come: Deliverance defended Nvidia, stating that the system improves the appearance of his game.

DLSS 5 will become available on September 3. The first results can be evaluated in NBA 2K7.
