Heroes of the Storm Fans Urge Donations Ahead of New Hero and Blizzard Evaluation
It is suggested that growth in the financial metrics of HOTS will help convince Blizzard to release new content.
At BlizzCon 2026, developers announced a new character for Heroes of the Storm. Xal’atath from World of Warcraft will soon be added to the MOBA game.
The heroine will appear in a few weeks, but players can already pre-order the “Xal’atath Harbinger of BlizzCon Bundle” in the Heroes of the Storm shop for $20.
Players will receive the heroine herself, as well as:
- The “Twilight Xal’atath” skin.
- The “Sin’dorei Phoenix” mount.
- The temporary “Heartpiercer” skin for Xal’atath.
- Those who pre-order before the heroine’s release will receive the “Heartpiercer” skin as a bonus.

In an interview with media representatives, one of the franchise leads from Blizzard Entertainment stated that the company will “see how this works out” and added that “if the community responds positively, then this could lead to more.” This update was called “the first step toward something truly massive.”
Some Heroes of the Storm fans, such as trizzo0309, expressed the opinion that people should donate more to the game. It is suggested that a noticeable increase in financial performance will signal to the developers that HOTS still has a large enough player base to justify releasing new content:
Blizzard has hinted that it is working on another character, however, if fans want it to actually appear in the game, they will have to open their wallets. One of the reasons why game development slowed down was that it was not bringing in enough money to justify the time and effort spent on it. Well, now we have a chance to show that the game deserves to have time, effort, and money invested in it again. Buy the character, maybe get some in-game items, play the game, and help revive the project. Because if Xal’atath turns out to be a financial failure, players will simply have to say goodbye to hopes for new content.
