Head of GTA 6’s Publisher Promises This Will Be the Last Delay

Although 2026 hasn’t arrived yet, Grand Theft Auto 6 has been postponed again — moved from May 26 to November 19 of next year. Rockstar said the delay is needed for additional polishing, and publisher Take-Two Interactive has backed the decision.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told an interviewer that he is “fully confident” in the revised release date.

We wanted to give Rockstar ample time to refine the game and ensure it reaches the highest possible standard.

Zelnick emphasized that titles afforded extra development time often show those delays were “well spent.” Conversely, rival companies that release projects before they’re ready frequently encounter “failures.”

This isn’t the first time Zelnick has put forward specific timelines — in May 2024 he said he was “confident” in a fall 2025 launch, and later referenced May 2026. Development schedules can shift, and not every project receives additional time.
