HBO Confirms The Last of Us Season 3 Premiere in 2027

The continuation will follow the story from the perspective of Abby, played by Kaitlyn Dever.

HBO has recently been reluctant to share new information about the third season of The Last of Us, but in a fresh interview with Deadline, network head Casey Bloys confirmed that its premiere is still scheduled for 2027.

In addition, Bloys acknowledged for the first time that the third season could be the last for the series:

He previously stated that the showrunner still had to decide on the structure of the continuation: whether to conclude the story in one large season or split the remaining events into two smaller seasons. Judging by Bloys’s new comment, Mazin leans toward the former option, though HBO has not yet officially confirmed that The Last of Us will end after the third season.

The continuation will center on Abby, played by Kaitlyn Dever, and show the events of The Last of Us Part II from her point of view. An exact premiere date remains unknown.
