Comment Views: 4

Witchbrook has remained high on my radar ever since its initial teaser nearly a decade ago. Chucklefish’s enchanting, magical spin on Stardew Valley continues to elevate the cozy life-simulation genre with every new showcase, growing increasingly captivating with each preview. Fortunately, following years of patient anticipation and a previous postponement, Witchbrook finally has a firm launch date.

Opening today’s Nintendo Indie World Showcase, developer Chucklefish revealed that Witchbrook will officially launch on January 28, 2027. While this represents a modest pushback from its previously targeted 2026 release window, the wait is only three months away, meaning fans have very little reason to complain.

The fresh release trailer highlights the title’s gorgeous isometric pixel art and deeply layered mechanics. Following in the footsteps of this year’s acclaimed Fields of Mistria, Witchbrook injects a heavy dose of wonder into a beloved genre framework. With Haunted Chocolatier still resting on the horizon, enthusiasts of wholesome life sims have plenty of standout adventures to look forward to.

What we know about Witchbrook

Put simply, Witchbrook serves as an enchanting spiritual successor to Stardew Valley, infused with spellcasting. Set within the picturesque seaside community of Mossport, the adventure begins as players enroll in Witchbrook College. While inevitable comparisons to a certain famous wizarding franchise come to mind, this alternative offers a far more intimate and delightful atmosphere.

Beyond attending lectures and maintaining academic standing, players will have the freedom to explore the open world and dive into a robust variety of gameplay systems. These activities include launching a business, soaring across the skies on broomsticks, customizing fashion choices, interior decorating, foraging, birdwatching, and much more. The sheer breadth of opportunities is staggering. Furthermore, the game supports up to four-player cooperative multiplayer, enabling friends to experience the magical journey together.

Witchbrook is scheduled for release on January 28, 2027, across Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
