Half-Life Turns 27 — Story Mods for the Game Keep Coming
There’s still no new entry in the franchise, but fans are supplying their own content.
This November marks the 27th anniversary of the original Half-Life. The shooter continues to receive active support from the community.
A recently released multi-chapter campaign called Insecure features several chapters and borrows some elements from Opposing Force.
This is far from the only Half-Life–based project — for example, work is underway on “Half-Life Recover”, where a modder chose to continue the story begun in the Decay expansion.
In the narrative, protagonist Colette Green (Gina Cross’s partner), together with Dr. Keller, searches for a way to escape Black Mesa. Their objective is to obtain a portable teleportation device.
The first chapter is tentatively scheduled for the first or second quarter of 2026; the developer has not announced an exact release date.
