Half-Life 3 “unlikely” to appear at The Game Awards, but could still be announced this year — insider
It appears The Game Awards will pass without any game-related surprises from Valve.
Some Half-Life fans still hold out hope that Valve will make an announcement in November; others speculate the company might take part in The Game Awards 2025.
Mike Stro of Insider Gaming recently posted on social media suggesting the reveal could happen in 2025:
I’m working to gather as much information as possible and coordinating with others to cross-check the data. We don’t want to report a date or any other detail unless it can be confirmed at least as a ‘Valve plan’.
The insider added that he was told the game “shouldn’t” be shown at The Game Awards 2025 — meaning that if a reveal occurs, Valve would likely host its own presentation.
During the podcast, Mike reminded listeners that Valve can lay down “date traps”:
I’ve seen this before. They did the same with Half-Life: Alyx — many people floated various dates because Valve used different timelines. I won’t give a date until I receive concrete confirmation that it’s real and not one of their traps.
