At the Xbox Partner Preview on November 20, 2025, Counterplay Games unveiled Armatus, a third‑person roguelite shooter from the studio behind 2020’s Godfall. The title drops players into a dystopian Paris overrun by demonic forces following humanity’s collapse.
Players assume the role of a supernatural warrior born of an ancient order, blending conventional firearms with celestial abilities — including a luminous, scythe‑like weapon. Your objective is to carve a path through hordes of fiends in pursuit of the Sunless Gate, a rumored portal to heaven. Armatus uses run‑based progression: death resets your run, but subsequent attempts offer new weapon combinations and progressively unlocked powers that change how each run plays out.
Armatus is slated for release in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and PC. The developer has also confirmed that the game will be available through Xbox Game Pass.
