Ghost of Yotei Developers Give Fans Hope for an Expansion
Several weeks have passed since the release of Ghost of Yotei, and many players have already experienced Atsu’s story. But is it truly finished? The developers have offered an answer.
The game has been available on PS5 for over two weeks. The creators confirmed the project is not closed: a multiplayer mode called Legend is currently in development. Because the first Ghost title received both multiplayer features and a story expansion after launch, the studio knows fans are watching for news about a single-player DLC that would extend Atsu’s narrative.
In a recent interview with Game Informer, co-director Jason Connell and writer Ian Ryan explained that while the game’s main storyline reaches a conclusion, Atsu still has unresolved matters. She’s learning to live without her brother, looks after her niece, and has taken on the role of a foster parent. Revenge is behind her, but full healing remains ahead.
The developers emphasized that future expansions are possible, though no final decisions have been made. Right now the team is gauging what players enjoy, which elements of the story resonate, and what they want more of. The creators are monitoring reactions closely so they can, if appropriate, expand Atsu’s journey with new content while preserving her character and the cohesiveness of the narrative.
