Gamers Mock Early Announcements of Diablo V and New StarCraft

There is a chance that The Elder Scrolls VI will launch earlier than new Blizzard games.

At BlizzCon 2026, the Blizzard Entertainment team shared development plans for its current projects and made two major announcements for full new games. Diablo V is in development, alongside StarCraft (which currently has no subtitle).

Players were initially excited, but some soon began analyzing the situation, realizing they will have to wait 3 and 4 years for the release of these games, respectively, provided nothing changes and there are no delays.

Diablo IV players were heavily surprised by such an early announcement of a new game, as they had expected the fourth installment to receive seasons for “as long as possible.”

A user under the nickname Kakerman attributes this to management changes. He suggests that new projects will launch more often, but they will be less innovative:

I think with the arrival of the new Blizzard, this practice will become more common. The old Blizzard is long gone, and with it the development philosophy of “when it’s ready.” The company is now led by managers from the NFL [National Football League], whose goal is to make money from their biggest franchises. So expect more regular, but also more conservative releases [of new games], and they will appear more often.

StarCraft is expected to launch in four years, which surprised franchise fans just as much as the announcement itself: “2030… what… the… isn’t it a bit early for an announcement?”

Some players are now joking that Blizzard Entertainment might have been trained by a colleague from Bethesda Game Studios.

Supra_1337: “Todd Howard definitely gave them advice on how to present this game.”

The teaser for The Elder Scrolls VI was shown back in 2018, and it did not specify a exact year at the time.

At present, TES VI still has no specific release date.
