“Friends” Director James Burrows Dies

Renowned American television director James Burrows has passed away at the age of 86, according to reports from Variety.

Born in 1940, Burrows was the son of acclaimed playwright Abe Burrows. While he initially embarked on his career in the theater, he transitioned to television production in the 1970s, where he would go on to shape the medium.

A distinguished recipient of 11 Emmy Awards, Burrows helmed over 100 series throughout his prolific career. His impressive body of work includes iconic sitcoms such as “Friends,” “Cheers,” “Taxi,” “Will & Grace,” “Frasier,” “Two and a Half Men,” and “The Big Bang Theory,” among many others. His sole venture into feature filmmaking was the crime comedy “Partners,” starring John Hurt.
