Kate Winslet to Star in Thelma and Louise-Style Series

Renowned for her iconic performances in Titanic and Mare of Easttown, Kate Winslet is set to headline a brand-new Netflix limited series titled The Unheard.

Industry reports suggest that the project draws thematic inspiration from Ridley Scott’s classic Thelma & Louise. The narrative follows two sisters—played by Winslet and Maxine Peake (Funny Woman)—who find themselves on the run from the law following an act of vengeance.

The series will span five episodes and is being crafted by the creative team behind Help, featuring acclaimed screenwriter Jack Thorne. Munia Akl (House of Guinness) is attached to direct, with production slated to begin in 2027. In addition to her starring role, Winslet will serve as an executive producer.

Winslet’s recent work includes her directorial debut for Netflix, the family drama Goodbye, June, released in 2025. Currently, she is involved in the production of the latest Lord of the Rings installment, in which she portrays Gollum’s grandmother.
