Transformers star Peter Cullen has died

Canadian actor Peter Cullen has passed away at the age of 85, according to media reports.

He achieved worldwide acclaim for his iconic portrayal of Optimus Prime in the Transformers franchise. Cullen’s resonant voice defined the character across all of Michael Bay’s films, the beloved 1980s animated series, numerous video games, and various other projects within the series.

Beyond his work as the Autobot leader, Cullen provided the voice for the title character in the 1976 King Kong remake, the creature in Predator, and Eeyore in the Winnie the Pooh series. One of his final performances was voicing Thaedus in the Prime Video animated series Invincible.

Earlier this week, the entertainment world also mourned the loss of legendary singer Dolly Parton and It star Tim Curry.
