Former EA FIFA Manager Joins 2K — Should We Expect a New Football Project?

Matt McKay has joined 2K as Vice President of Marketing, intensifying speculation about a new football title.

Previously, McKay was Senior Marketing Manager for FIFA at EA and later led the EA Sports FIFA brand. He has also collaborated with Nike, the International Olympic Committee, and Manchester United.

In November, he posted on LinkedIn:

Delighted to begin a new chapter as Vice President of Marketing at 2K. We’re building a best-in-class team to fully execute our uncompromising vision for 2K’s next major sports franchise.

That statement doesn’t directly confirm a football project, but hiring a former FIFA lead and referencing “the next major sports franchise” invites speculation. 2K could be positioning a rival to EA FC — potentially aiming to become the industry’s “new FIFA.”
