First Details of New StarCraft Game and One Target Platform Revealed
At least the new installment in the franchise will be available on Xbox.
During BlizzCon 2026, a new project in the StarCraft franchise was unveiled. It is not a real-time strategy game, but rather a game in a completely different genre.
StarCraft, which does not yet have a subtitle, is an open-world shooter with a strong narrative focus. The debut cinematic trailer did not feature gameplay footage. Dan Hay, known for his work on recent numbered entries in the Far Cry series, is leading the development.
The Xbox UK account commented on the StarCraft presentation, confirming a release on the “xbox console.” Because the post used the wording “xbox console” rather than “consoles,” some players speculate that the new StarCraft might launch exclusively on next-generation hardware without a release on Xbox Series X|S. Given Xbox’s policies, the game is also expected to appear on PC, while a release on PlayStation consoles remains in question.
It was also revealed that the new StarCraft is not a direct sequel to the RTS StarCraft II. Chronologically, the events will take place 70 years later in the Koprulu sector.
Blizzard Entertainment launched a website for the new StarCraft featuring several screenshots, which are moments from the announcement promotional video.
StarCraft does not yet have a specific release date. At the end of the trailer, the developers promised to “return in 2030.”
