First Beta Weekend Brings Activision 400,000 Modern Warfare 4 Pre-Orders on Steam

Analyst estimates indicate that pre-orders for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on Steam are approaching 400,000 copies following the first beta weekend, generating an estimated $21 million in revenue.

Steam has traditionally not served as the primary platform for the Call of Duty franchise, even among PC players. For comparison, launch sales for Black Ops 7 on Steam reached 200,000 copies. Modern Warfare 4 has already roughly doubled that total with nearly two months remaining before its full launch.

Pre-orders for Modern Warfare 4 opened on May 28, and the early access beta ran from August 21 to August 25. The second beta phase, open to all players, runs from August 28 through September 1. The full game is scheduled to release on October 23.
