Fans Will Be Disappointed: Early Reviews of “Predator: Planet of Death” Are Mixed

Director Dan Trachtenberg has unveiled a fresh vision for the iconic franchise, recasting Predator as a near family-friendly space adventure that is likely to divide audiences.

The London premiere of the sci‑fi action film “Predator: Planet of Death” has taken place, and early reactions are mixed.

Reporters note that the new installment leans more toward a cosmic road movie than a traditional Predator outing. Critics praise the chemistry between Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, highlighting the film’s lighter tone and unexpected emotional depth. Some reviewers even describe it as an almost family-oriented adventure.

Despite acclaim for the direction, humor, and visual design, the shift away from the franchise’s established formula has become the main source of debate. Barton Reviews warns that transforming Predator into an adventure-comedy reminiscent of The Mandalorian may disappoint long-standing fans of the series.

Phil Roberts of Future of the Force shares that view: he calls the film a bold expansion of the universe but predicts devoted fans will feel shortchanged. Paul Klein of Filmhounds adds that certain creative choices are questionable and will inevitably split the audience.

“Predator: Planet of Death” opens in theaters on November 7, 2025.
