Physical vs. Digital Game Media – YouTube

If you browse the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, or Xbox Store, you’ll often find digital editions priced the same as — or occasionally higher than — boxed versions. Cain argues, however, that digital distribution likely prevented prices from climbing even further over time.
“I think digital is probably the reason games haven’t inflated to match historical price increases,” he sums up. “I remember paying around $59 for games in the ’90s — which would be very costly by today’s standards for a typical SNES-era title — but those digital savings rarely made their way to customers.”
Fallout creator Tim Cain says he was “ordered to destroy” his personal archive of the RPG’s development: “Individuals and organizations actively work against preservation”
