Epic Games Hikes Fortnite V-Bucks Prices with More Bad News on the Way

Despite generating a staggering $6.01 billion in revenue throughout 2025, Epic Games has announced another price hike for V-Bucks, the virtual currency powering Fortnite. In a recent official blog post, the developer justified the decision by citing mounting overhead, stating, “The cost of maintaining Fortnite has escalated significantly, and we are adjusting prices to offset these operational expenses.”

The following adjustments will take effect on March 19 (exact pricing may vary by territory):

  • $8.99 Pack: Now grants 800 V-Bucks (previously 1,000)
  • $22.99 Pack: Now grants 2,400 V-Bucks (previously 2,800)
  • $36.99 Pack: Now grants 4,500 V-Bucks (previously 5,000)
  • $89.99 Pack: Now grants 12,500 V-Bucks (previously 13,500)
  • Exact Amount Pack: Increased to $0.99 for 50 V-Bucks (previously $0.50)

V-Bucks serve as the primary medium for acquiring cosmetic items, emotes, and the seasonal Battle Pass. Alongside the currency inflation, the Battle Pass structure is also seeing a revision. While the entry price has been lowered to 800 V-Bucks—allowing players to earn back their initial investment—Epic has scrapped the 500 V-Bucks bonus previously available through Bonus Rewards. It remains unclear if individual item shop prices for skins and accessories will be adjusted in tandem.

As a minor consolation, players making purchases within the Epic ecosystem—including Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys—will receive 20% back via Epic Rewards. This credit is applicable to future purchases across the Epic Games Store or through Epic’s native payment systems on PC, Android, iOS, and web platforms.

For players looking to maximize their value before the March 19 deadline, there is a window of opportunity. Epic Games has confirmed that physical V-Buck gift cards will retain their printed value upon redemption, meaning fans can stock up now to secure the current, more favorable rates for future use.
