Fans hoping to explore The Lands Between on the Nintendo Switch 2 will need to be patient: FromSoftware has pushed back the release of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition to next year.
The Switch 2 port bundles the original Elden Ring with its expansive 2024 expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, and adds new armor and customization options for Torrent. Tarnished Edition was unveiled earlier this year with a broad 2025 window; the studio now says additional development time is necessary.
In a social post, FromSoftware explained that it needs more time to optimize performance and ensure the game runs reliably on the hybrid hardware. The team apologized for the inconvenience and said it wants to deliver the best possible experience for players. (Original post: FromSoftware on X.)
In short: the Switch 2 edition, originally aimed for 2025, has been delayed to 2026 while the studio completes performance adjustments. FromSoftware thanks fans for their patience and asks for understanding as it fine-tunes the title.
Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is now due in 2026.
