Details have emerged about the budget for the Elden Ring video game adaptation. Production reportedly cost roughly $200 million, a record for the independent studio A24.
The previous record belonged to Marty Supreme, the Timothée Chalamet biopic, which cost $70 million. Filming for Elden Ring took place in the United Kingdom from April to July of this year. Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation) is directing and writing the film. The cast includes Kit Connor, Cailey Spaeny, Ben Whishaw and others.
The Elden Ring video game launched in February 2022. It is set in the Lands Between, a magical realm ruled by warrior demigods. The protagonist, the Tarnished, must reassemble the powerful shattered Elden Ring and become the realm’s new ruler.
