EA Sports FC 27 Receives Mixed Reviews on Steam Amid Criticism

Some players are less than thrilled with the quality of the new installment in the soccer franchise.

The standard release of EA Sports FC 27 on PC, PlayStation 4 (PS4), PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for September 25. However, buyers of the expanded editions received early access a week ahead of time.

Users on Steam have had the opportunity to leave reviews for the game, and right now EA Sports FC 27 holds a “Mixed” rating at 57% after nearly a thousand reviews.

Users point to technical issues. For example, stuttering has been observed, and in some cases the game fails to launch. A community member under the nickname Mvqk shared their experience:

As soon as the shaders load, a black screen appears. This is not a problem with my PC, since I ran games like Rocket League, EA Sports FC 26, Black Ops 3, Black Ops 7, Warzone with no problems and no lag, and now I just cannot launch FC 27.

There are also complaints about gamepad issues, as they can sometimes disconnect for a few seconds. Meanwhile, some users express the opinion that the game was released raw and call EA Sports FC 27 “the embodiment of human greed”:

An entire year goes into developing a game that somehow turns out worse than the previous installment. The gameplay is awful, the graphics haven’t changed, and matches still resemble a game of tennis: neither team holds onto the ball for longer than 10 seconds. EA should be ashamed that this is all they are capable of. Every year they tell us that they “listened” to us and will make changes, and we, like fools, buy this game over and over again.
