As fans wait to learn what Quentin Tarantino will do for his tenth — and possibly final — film, the writer‑director has been reveling in a surprising creative partnership with Epic Games for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1. The season not only introduces characters lifted from Tarantino’s two‑part revenge opus (collected as Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair), but it also includes an animated short adapted from a scene that was removed from the original shooting script: The Lost Chapter: Yuki’s Revenge.
At the world premiere of Yuki’s Revenge earlier this month, the question of continuing the Kill Bill saga came up — unsurprising given how closely Tarantino and star Uma Thurman (who returns as the Bride for the short) still identify with the material. Tarantino didn’t offer a firm commitment about what’s next, but he did outline a possible direction that would expand Bill’s backstory.
“I had a whole Kill Bill idea in my mind when we were doing it, and then I was so wiped out from doing the movie,” Tarantino said during a Q&A attended by Polygon. “I could see a world… I like the idea of a Bill origin, a story of Bill. About how Bill became Bill and the three godfathers that made [him]: Esteban Vihaio, Hattori Hanzō, and Pai Me.”
An origin tale for Bill — the one‑time leader of the Deadly Vipers and father to the Bride’s child — could be rich territory. Imagining how ruthless figures such as Pai Mei, Esteban Vihaio and Hattori Hanzō shaped him offers a lot of dramatic potential. Tarantino has said that, time permitting, almost anything remains possible; still, translating that particular story to a theatrical feature seems increasingly unlikely.
Given Tarantino’s well‑publicized intention to step away from filmmaking after one more feature, an alternative format might serve the idea better. A limited series devoted to Bill’s origin would let the director unpack characters and backstory across multiple episodes — exactly the kind of long‑form storytelling the streaming landscape is hungry for and a fitting outlet for a filmmaker known for intricate, character‑driven work. If successful, it could grow beyond a single season.
For the moment, audiences have The Lost Chapter: Yuki’s Revenge to watch. The short debuts in Fortnite on Nov. 30, 2025; additionally, select theatrical presentations of Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair will include the piece when the film opens in cinemas on Dec. 5, 2025.
