Renowned director Paul Thomas Anderson has settled on a concept for his upcoming feature, according to his longtime collaborator and composer, Jonny Greenwood.

Greenwood revealed that he is currently mastering a new musical instrument for the film, noting that it will serve as a foundational element of the narrative. Further specifics regarding the project remain under wraps.

“It might not happen right away, but he had a few ideas and seems to have chosen one and begun to flesh it out. One might assume the next project will take years, as is often the case. However, he has defied expectations before, transforming ‘Licorice Pizza’ into something extraordinary within just a few months,”

Greenwood shared in an interview with Screen Daily. Throughout the years, reports have suggested that Anderson was developing a project centered on the “golden age” of jazz in 1940s Los Angeles, with rumors indicating Denzel Washington might star in the lead role.

Anderson’s most recent feature, “One Battle After Another,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio, premiered last year and secured six Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. This autumn, Anderson is set to debut a concert film featuring musician Cameron Winter.
