Sales for Digimon Story: Time Stranger took Bandai Namco by surprise — preorders in Japan have substantially outpaced expectations.
Demand for Digimon Story: Time Stranger clearly caught Bandai Namco off guard — preorders across Japan have exceeded forecasts.
The launch of this new standalone entry — the first in the series in ten years — is imminent, and interest has been intense. On September 30, publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment warned that “due to high demand, physical copies may be limited during the first week after release.” Fans are advised to pre-order now, as retail outlets could run out at launch. There are already reports from customers that stock has sold out in some stores, while others have been told their pre-orders won’t arrive in time for release. It appears the new Digimon RPG’s popularity has surpassed the publisher’s projections.
The title was developed by Media.Vision, the studio behind Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, and represents the seventh main entry in the Digimon Story subseries. Development spanned seven to eight years, and Time Stranger will include the largest roster to date — more than 450 Digimon. Digimon Story: Time Stranger launches on October 2 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the Steam release scheduled for October 3.
