Players will encounter many familiar elements in the upcoming season.

Blizzard Entertainment is currently preparing for the launch of Season 15 in Diablo IV. The developers have prepared several activities for the Hell’s Legacy season. For example, players will be able to fight old adversaries and see familiar locations.

This will be made possible through Waking Nightmares. Owen Leach, who is responsible for creating the seasons, explained that the team recreated key moments from previous entries in the Diablo series, but in the art style of Diablo IV and with the engaging gameplay of the fourth installment.

The activities are divided into three types: greatest, regular, and minor Waking Nightmares. These can range from small events to standard or multi-level dungeons that recreate levels from the original Diablo.

The developer shared that the Diablo IV team recreated “almost the entirety” of the first Diablo:

You start in the Tristram cathedral, fight your way through the catacombs, descend into the caves, and then, of course, end up in Hell itself to defeat the Big Red, the Dark Lord, the Lord of Terror—Diablo.

In Season 15 of Diablo IV, players will be able to fight an Echo of Diablo and more. There will also be an opportunity to unlock “spires of evil,” which grant a character the power of one of the bosses.

Work is also underway on a full-fledged new installment, Diablo V, where a BioWare veteran will handle the narrative. Writer Jennifer Hepler, known for her work on the Dragon Age franchise titles Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age II, and Dragon Age: Inquisition, has joined the project.
