Developers Run Demon’s Souls and Astro Bot on PS5 Emulator

Performance has improved slightly, but it is still far from ideal.

Tech enthusiasts recently managed to run the Demon’s Souls remake on PC using a PlayStation 5 emulator called KyTyPS5. Performance was poor at the time, with the game running at just a few frames per second.

The emulator’s developers continued working on the project, and new tests of KyTyPS5 have recently begun appearing online. Demon’s Souls occasionally shows a performance increase of nearly 1,000%, with the frame rate during gameplay reaching up to 18 frames per second instead of 2 frames per second.

However, Demon’s Souls still runs very unsteadily. Unreal Gaming, the author of a YouTube channel, tried to run through a location and enter combat, observing an average of 1 to 5 frames per second the entire time.

Another prominent PlayStation 5 exclusive, Astro Bot, was also successfully booted on the KyTyPS5 emulator. Gameplay can be reached, but the game stutters and features graphic bugs. GAMER NO 1 also tested Pac-Man, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and the anime fighting game Bleach Rebirth of Souls.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles in November of this year. Some players hope to play on PC before the official release using an emulator of this type.
