Developers of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis show Egypt and altered familiar locations
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will feature a redesigned Egypt showcasing recognizable locations from the original 1996 game, which the developers are expanding with new details and story elements.
Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog shared new material about the making of the remake. According to the creators, any fan of the series will immediately recognize Egypt, though certain areas will receive creative changes that help expand Lara Croft’s story.
The studios want to preserve the atmosphere of the original with massive tombs, temples, and secrets tied to the mythology and fictional elements of the world, while utilizing the capabilities of modern technology.
Narrative Director John Stafford calls Egypt another step for Lara toward the unknown. According to him, the heroine will discover that much older and more mysterious secrets lie hidden behind the familiar history. The developers specifically advise exploring locations with a flashlight in hand.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will release on February 12, 2027, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
