Path of Exile 2 Full Release Teasers Include New Classes, Atlas Automation, and Armies for Castle Sieges

Grinding Gear Games has revealed plans to complete the Path of Exile 2 story with Acts 5 and 6 in the game’s full release.

During a presentation on the game’s future, the developer detailed new content and showed several teasers. “Return to Oriath, ravaged by countless disasters. Fight your way through the horrors that await and put an end to the Order of the Ebon Hand and the Beast once and for all.”

Acts 5 and 6 will feature 24 areas to explore, from filthy slums to the temple district and a grand arena. The developers promise something unique to find in each location.

Players will face 18 new unique bosses and more than 20 new encounters with named rare monsters. The Shadow class will also arrive, bringing a new stealth mechanic to Path of Exile 2.

While a character is in stealth, monsters cannot see them until they get right next to them. Staying in the shadows also enhances dagger skills, granting bonuses ranging from poisonous explosions to shadow clones that distract enemies.

The Shadow can use daggers and a new weapon type, traps. Each trap can interact with at least three others in a unique way, opening up a wide variety of combinations.

The Duelist class will also become available, using a new stance mechanic in combat. The developers described how it works:

In the Conquerors of Wraeclast league, players will explore a new high-level story and try to prevent an ancient Blood Lord from awakening. They will be able to raise an army, build a stronghold and conquer castles.

Castle treasuries will contain gold, useful items and a new type of crafting material for reforging equipment. The material replaces unwanted properties with random fractured properties, which remain on the item even after further crafting.

Players will also be able to automate the Atlas by assigning troops and Waystones to a commander, who will send an army to clear maps and collect rewards. Up to three commanders can be hired to explore the Atlas, complete towers or hunt for specific rewards using tablets.
