Delta Force developers caught using a model from Rust: “You could have simply contacted us”

Delta Force’s season launched with a new trailer that sparked controversy after one of the 3D models was identified as originating from the game Rust, according to Facepunch’s director.

The item in question was a model of an explosive charge. Alistair McFarlane shared a screenshot on X.

Hi, Delta Force. We appreciate that you’re fans of Rust — please remove our asset. If you intended to collaborate, you could have reached out to us first.

In a follow-up post he added: “But the trailer is great!”

A few hours later Team Jade issued an apology. In a statement, the developers said the model ended up in the trailer by oversight: it had been purchased from an online marketplace without confirming the creator.

The situation was resolved: Rust’s creators agreed to let the model remain in the trailer, and Team Jade vowed to verify authorship more diligently in the future.

We sincerely appreciate that you allowed us to keep the trailer as-is — it means a great deal to us. We are strengthening our processes to ensure this won’t happen again. Thank you once more.
