Dear Villagers to Lay Off Most of Its Staff in Industry-Wide Cuts

French publisher Dear Villagers has started cutting staff, with roughly 15 of its approximately 20 employees losing their jobs.

The company, known for 1348 Ex Voto, Caravan SandWitch, and The Forgotten City, is undergoing restructuring due to difficult conditions in the gaming market. In an interview, a publisher representative noted that the layoff process is still ongoing, so the final number of dismissed employees is not yet known.

“This is, of course, a difficult decision,” the company stated, emphasizing the contribution of employees and teams to the development of Dear Villagers. According to the publisher, the reorganization is designed to help adapt the business structure to rapid market changes and new economic conditions.

Despite the significant team reduction, Dear Villagers does not plan to shut down operations. The company will continue to publish and create games. At the same time, it remains unknown whether the restructuring will affect projects currently in production. The final scale of the changes will become clear once the process concludes.
