Dead or Alive 6 Last Round Criticized on Steam — Players Dissatisfied with Koei Tecmo’s Decisions

The release of Dead or Alive 6 Last Round triggered significant criticism. Players expressed frustration over minor updates, the removal of the original game from digital storefronts, and Koei Tecmo’s approach to paid downloadable content.

The removal of the standard edition drew the most intense backlash. New players must now purchase Last Round exclusively, a move many compared to the controversy surrounding the GTA trilogy remasters.

The new version holds roughly 70 percent negative reviews on Steam. Meanwhile, the original Dead or Alive 6 retains a positive rating, though some users have started review-bombing the older title in protest.

Purchasers also noted that the characters Mai Shiranui and Kula Diamond do not carry over to the new version. Players must buy these fighters again even if they already own them.

Last Round offers limited additions, including improved lighting on a single stage, faster costume unlocks, and a photo mode. Fans argue these changes fall short of expectations. The community also points to the lack of rollback netcode and cross-play, alongside concerns regarding the game’s file size and the developer’s ongoing focus on selling expensive costume packs.
