Extraction Shooter Active Matter Receives Major Update in Final Preparation for Steam
Active Matter has received its largest update to date, titled “250 Shades of Liberty,” introducing new locations, weapons, vehicles, monsters, and overhauled raid systems.
Released on August 27, the update adds a downtown North American city zone filled with ruined skyscrapers, open streets, and patrolling police and SWAT units. The African setting also expanded with a new raid called “Airport.”
Key additions include multi-raid queuing, new high-tier loot zones, and dense monster clusters. The arsenal expanded with the RSh-12, MAC-11, SCAR-H, M14, and DP-12, alongside four melee weapons, reconnaissance and strike drones, new weapon attachments, and vehicles.
The developers also reworked first aid kits, inventory management, item synthesis and replication systems, chronogenes, and stash storage. Players can tackle new investigations and contracts or set monster traps. The update introduces Naomi Carter and revises the abilities of several shells.
Additional improvements cover monster behavior, sound design, visuals, and the interface. Players now have access to global chat, new music tracks, an equalizer, and quick raid matchmaking. Bug fixes address hit registration, ammunition synchronization, black screens, and monster behavior at high ping.
Extraction shooter Active Matter is scheduled to launch on September 15, 2026, for Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
