The Witcher 3 Geralt Cosplayer Arrives at Gamescom 2026 in a Steaming Bathtub
Attendees outside the Koelnmesse exhibition center at Gamescom 2026 were treated to an unusual sight as Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt rolled past in a wooden tub. Popular cosplayer Maul returned to portray the iconic monster hunter for the stunt.
Maul celebrated the announcement of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remaster and its Ballads of the Past expansion with the mobile recreation of the franchise’s most enduring meme.
Geralt’s Adventures at Gamescom 2026
Dressed as Geralt, Maul faithfully reenacted the opening scene from the game, resting inside a motorized wooden bath that he drove across the plaza outside the Koelnmesse venue during the convention.
The bathtub sequence has long stood as one of the most recognizable and viral moments in gaming pop culture. The scene introduces Geralt relaxing in a hot wooden tub, contrasting his hardened persona with a casual domestic setting. His signature posture, with arms spread over the edges and legs propped high, quickly became an internet sensation.

The developers leaned into the joke over the years, initially designing an April Fools’ figurine of Geralt in the tub before later putting it into commercial mass production. The scene was also recreated shot for shot in Netflix’s The Witcher adaptation starring Henry Cavill, and it appeared as an Easter egg in Cyberpunk 2077.
