Ninja Scroll Director’s Latest Anime, Spirit Ring, Gets First Trailer
Twin Engine has announced an anime adaptation of Satoshi Mizukami’s manga Spirit Circle and released its first trailer. The series is the final directing project of Tatsuo Sato.
Fourteen-year-old Futa Okeya can see ghosts. When Koko Ishigami joins his class, she notices a mark he hides under a bandage on his cheek and declares him her enemy. Koko says she left the mark in one of his past lives and now intends to kill Futa’s soul and break the cycle of reincarnation. To uncover the reason for her long-standing hatred, Futa must relive his past incarnations, from ancient times to the distant future.
Spirit Circle was the final directing project of Tatsuo Sato, who directed the series Ninja Scroll and Martian Successor Nadesico and worked on the storyboard for an episode of the original Shaman King. After Sato died in April 2026, studios NAGOMI and EOTA completed the anime under assistant director Kentaro Mizuno.
Spirit Circle will have 18 episodes and is scheduled to begin airing in December 2026. A specific premiere date has not been announced.
