Cosplayers Arshie Nero and AleksMaks portrayed Rogue Trader Lorraine von Valancius and Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Heinrix van Calox, bringing the characters’ romantic relationship to life.

The final expansion for the role-playing game Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, “The Procession of the Damned,” is set to launch on December 8, 2026. In anticipation, the cosplay community has shared new photos inspired by the game.

Photographer Elena Vesania held a photoshoot featuring Arshie Nero as Lorraine von Valancius, a Rogue Trader she created while playing Rogue Trader, and cosplayer AleksMaks as Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Heinrix van Calox.

The cosplayers set out to recreate the characters’ romance. Heinrix resists his feelings for a long time, openly saying that intimacy with the Lord Captain interferes with his duties. But the sincere warmth and attention of a strong woman eventually melt his reserve.

Their relationship reaches a turning point in the dark city of Commorragh, where Heinrix endures horrific torture. The Rogue Trader’s rescue and care turn their romance into a genuine, mature love.

The outcome of their relationship depends entirely on the player’s choices. If the player encourages Heinrix’s dogmatism and the severity of an Inquisitor, he will remain devoted to duty and become a Lord Inquisitor. Their relationship will become a secret, painful long-distance romance strained by their obligations.

If the Rogue Trader instead nurtures Heinrix’s compassion and humanity, he will take a desperate step for love. He will leave the Inquisition, remain aboard the Lord Captain’s ship as Master of Whispers, and devote his life to protecting the woman he loves.
