Rockstar Boss Admits Team Is Nervous as It Strives to Make GTA VI Perfect
The development team behind Grand Theft Auto VI is nervous ahead of release and determined to polish the title to perfection, according to Rockstar North head Rob Nelson.
Rockstar received widespread praise following a 26-minute Extended Look showcase, yet the developers have no intention of easing off. When asked about the massive expectations surrounding the project, Nelson laughed and responded, “No pressure.”
I try not to think about it. Obviously, you’re aware of it. But I think we just have to try and do what we feel builds on what we’ve done before, evolves it, while keeping that familiar feeling.

Nelson noted that internal standards create far more strain on the team than public scrutiny:
It’s a heavy thing. Whatever pressure we feel from the outside, I don’t think it compares to the pressure we put on ourselves as a team. Everyone wants it to be perfect. We are nervous! Of course we’re nervous, but we’re also excited to see what people think of this video and ultimately the game.
Nelson added that the scale of GTA VI represents “definitely a step up in every way” for the studio. The game is scheduled to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
