Dan Trachtenberg Doesn’t Rule Out ‘Alien vs. Predator 3’ but Says the Perfect Recipe Can’t Be Rushed

The director of Prey and Predator: Planet of Death believes a crossover should arise from the natural progression of both universes.

Director Dan Trachtenberg addressed the possibility of an Alien vs. Predator 3. In an interview with The Direct, he said that such a crossover demands time and an organic evolution of each franchise.

A reporter asked Trachtenberg whether he had discussed a joint film with Disney or 20th Century Studios — especially after Federico Álvarez jokingly floated the idea of making an Alien vs. Predator together. Trachtenberg replied that the secret to a successful movie is properly “preparing” the universe.

As he put it, “the coolest thing is to gather all those ingredients and let them do their work.” He added that he doesn’t want to “pull the dish out of the oven undercooked”: the elements of both series must “marinate, simmer, and reach the perfect temperature.”

Trachtenberg’s most recent film, Predator: Planet of Death, illustrates this philosophy. The movie features the Weyland‑Yutani corporation and its synthetics, effectively signaling a shared universe. Still, bringing a Predator and a Xenomorph together on screen will require careful handling so the crossover feels natural.
