Following the successful launch of Cronos: The New Dawn last autumn, Bloober Team is far from finished with its chilling sci-fi universe. The studio has officially unveiled Lazarus, an upcoming expansion set to arrive this fall that dramatically pivots the gameplay from methodical survival horror toward adrenaline-fueled, high-octane action.
Serving as a narrative prequel, Lazarus steps back in time to explore the origins of the Warden. Players will guide the protagonist through his formative years as a pathfinder, witnessing his evolution into the battle-hardened figure established in the base game. Bloober Team notes that this experience will feel distinct, granting the Warden specialized abilities—such as tactical decoys—designed to help players navigate volatile situations with agility.

While the original title prioritized a creeping, atmospheric dread, Lazarus is built on intensity. The developer describes the expansion as a more aggressive interpretation of the Cronos formula, where combat is governed by speed, mounting pressure, and the looming threat of the Tracker—a persistent, relentless antagonist designed specifically to hunt you down.
“Cronos: The New Dawn represents a daring creative risk for us,” explained Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno. “We are incredibly excited to build upon this universe with Lazarus. The Warden has clearly resonated with our community, and we are delighted to have Alan Turkington return to bring this iconic character to life once again.”
Cronos: Lazarus is slated for release this autumn across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
