Cosplayers Portray Gale and Mystra from Baldur’s Gate 3

Cosplayers Alvarez and Anna “Nova” Weber have portrayed Mystra and Gale from the role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 to depict the complex relationship between the goddess of magic and the mortal wizard from Waterdeep.

The Forgotten Realms continue to draw attention from gamers, cosplay fans, and users who love watching hero adventures in fantasy worlds.

Photographer Kira Mitenkova published new pictures dedicated to the role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3, featuring cosplayers Alvarez and Anna “Nova” Weber in the roles of Gale and Mystra.

The relationship between Mystra and Gale is a complex and tragic story that intertwines divine love, human ambition, and crushing pride. Mystra, the goddess of magic and wizardry, spotted exceptional talent in the young wizard from Waterdeep and made him her chosen one and lover.

Their bond went far beyond a standard union between a mortal and a deity. Gale literally touched pure magic, sharing moments of profound intimacy with Mystra and gaining access to secrets hidden from other wizards. However, Gale found this insufficient. Driven by a desire to prove he was worthy of his divine patron, he attempted to restore a lost piece of ancient Netherese magic to her.

This step turned into a disaster when the discovered Netherese orb proved to be an unstable magical entity, absorbing a portion of the wizard’s power and lodging itself in his chest as a lethal bomb. Mystra viewed this act as betrayal and a display of pride, subsequently severing her connection with Gale and condemning him to exile.

Divine love instantly gave way to cold calculation as the goddess, through her messenger Elminster, commanded Gale to atone for his guilt by detonating the Netherese orb to destroy the Absolute. For Gale, this relationship became both his greatest blessing and a curse that instilled deep self-doubt, since he long felt he was valued only as long as he remained useful to magic.
