British filmmaker Christopher Nolan has been elected president of the Directors Guild of America, taking over from Leslie Glatter, who led the organization for the past two years.
Nolan has been a Guild member since 2001 and joined its national board in the early 2010s. He is also a prominent member of the committee focused on the use of artificial intelligence in contemporary film production.
It was reported that Nolan faced no challengers and was the sole candidate for the DGA’s leadership. In the coming year he will represent the organization—whose membership is roughly 20,000 people—in negotiations over new working conditions for its members.
