HBO to Reboot “Booster Gold” Series About Impostor Superhero

HBO is set to completely overhaul its upcoming superhero series, “Booster Gold,” according to a report by TheWrap.

Initially announced in 2023, the project saw screenwriter David Jenkins (“Our Flag Means Death”) come on board in 2025. However, Jenkins recently confirmed that his specific vision for the show has been scrapped by the network.

Details regarding the new creative team have yet to be disclosed. In the original comics, which debuted in the 1980s, Booster Gold is portrayed as a former college football star driven by an insatiable hunger for fame and fortune. He eventually ascends to become a member of the Justice League. DC Studios had envisioned the series as a narrative about a self-serving fraud who utilizes advanced future technology to masquerade as a hero in the present day.

This development follows the recent cancellation of Marvel Studios and Disney+’s “Wonder Man” after a single season. Meanwhile, the highly anticipated DC series “Lanterns” is scheduled to premiere on HBO on August 16.
