Independent developer Evil Raptor and publisher Fireshine Games have announced the Early Access launch of Far Far West, a chaotic 1-4 player co-op shooter. Set in a “weird west” archipelago, the game blends traditional gunplay with explosive magical spells, tasking players with hunting down dangerous bounties across cursed lands. Within hours of its release, the title climbed to become one of the top-selling games on Steam, currently boasting an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating from thousands of players.
Robot Cowboys and Spectral Trains
Far Far West takes the classic western setting and turns it on its head. Players step into the metal boots of robot cowboy bounty hunters, taking on contracts from the Town Sheriff. The environment is far from hospitable, featuring haunted mines, reanimated skeletons, giant vultures, and a massive spectral train that roams the landscapes. The core loop centers on teamwork: players must coordinate to track targets, secure loot, and escape back to the safety of their base to cash in on their rewards.
The combat system allows for seamless switching between traditional six-shooters and a variety of magical abilities. Customization is a key component, with players able to trade loot for gear upgrades, fresh spells, and new perks. Whether specializing in high-damage spells, healing support, or precision marksmanship, the game offers depth in character building that adapts to different playstyles.
Early Access Journey
Evil Raptor, the small French team behind the 2020 hit Pumpkin Jack, plans to keep Far Far West in Early Access for approximately 12 months. This period will be used to expand content, improve balancing, and integrate community feedback. Future updates are expected to introduce more weapons, enemies, game modes, and long-term progression systems. The developers emphasize that player input is vital to shaping the final version of the game.
Far Far West is available now on PC via Steam with a limited-time introductory discount. Console versions for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch are also available, bringing the weird west adventure to a broad audience.
